NIGERIA COMMUNITY ACTION FOR RESILIENCE AND ECONOMIC STIMULUS LAGOS CARES DL.1.3 – DECEMBER 2024

A wonderful way to end 2024. I and my team had another opportunity to facilitate the training program for the empowerment program by the Lagos State Government.
In an effort to empower business owners, the Lagos State Government, through its Ministry of Women Affairs and Poverty Alleviation (MWAPA), in collaboration with the World Bank and Nigeria Community Action for Resilience and Economic Stimulus (NG-Cares), has disbursed life-changing grants to more than 4,500 beneficiaries on Friday, December 20, 2024.
This transformative programme which was held across different local government areas in the state, goes beyond financial support by incorporating short-term training and educational sessions for the beneficiaries. These sessions are designed to equip them with essential skills and knowledge on effective business management, strategic planning, and sustainable entrepreneurship.
NIGERIA COMMUNITY ACTION FOR RESILIENCE AND ECONOMIC STIMULUS LAGOS CARES DL.1.3 – NOVEMBER 2024

My team and I had the pleasure of training over 2,000 women at various locations across Lagos State in partnership with the Lagos State Ministry of Women Affairs and Poverty Alleviation (WAPA). This initiative is part of an economic stimulus program supported by the WorldBank and the Federal Government of Nigeria, aimed at empowering vulnerable communities through small business grants. This has been going on for a few years at multiple times a year.
Under the leadership of the Honourable Commissioner, Mrs. Bolaji Dada and the Permanent Secretary, Mrs. Oluyemi Kalesanwo, the ministry paired these grants with impactful training sessions to ensure recipients could maximize their potential. My team and I delivered sessions in both Yoruba and English, making the training accessible to all participants.
The women we worked with have been in business for a few years, some with over 20 years of experience. Our focus was to refresh their skills in business management, customer engagement, and the use of digital technology, while also emphasizing bookkeeping, grant management, and business formalization for sustainable growth.
What stood out most was their enthusiasm and hunger for knowledge. Many had never attended formal business training before, yet they’ve managed to thrive. Their curiosity and determination inspired us all. Every session ended with heartfelt prayers and expressions of gratitude, reminding me of the transformative power of accessible education.
These programs go beyond business grants, they build stronger communities and create lasting impact. I’m grateful for the opportunity to contribute and excited to continue supporting initiatives that uplift the most vulnerable among us.
WOMEN & YOUTH FARMERS AGRIPRENEUR REGIONAL CONFERENCE – OCT 2024
WAYFARC|2024

I was privileged to serve as a panelist at the recent regional conference organized by NABG and the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation. The focus of my talk was on illuminating the vast opportunities and significant challenges faced by women in agribusiness. Over two decades ago, I launched a grocery e-commerce venture aimed at addressing work-life balance through technological solutions. It soon became evident that success in this arena demanded a deep dive into the agricultural sector and collaboration with its key players. Sharing my journey and insights at this event was profoundly rewarding, and I eagerly anticipate further opportunities to drive meaningful impact in the field.
NIGERIA COMMUNITY ACTION FOR RESILIENCE AND ECONOMIC STIMULUS LAGOS CARES DL.1.3 – SEPTEMBER 2024

I had the honor of facilitating several sessions for small and medium-scale businesses in Lagos State, organized by the Ministry of Women Affairs and Poverty Alleviation in collaboration with the Federal Government of Nigeria. These sessions were part of a broader initiative to support entrepreneurs through small grants and educational programs aimed at stimulating economic growth. The training’s objectives were multifaceted: to reinforce key business management principles, emphasize the importance of adopting new technologies to boost business growth, and to encourage participation in business associations to leverage opportunities provided by the government and other entities. We explored essential traits of successful business owners, strategies for attracting and retaining customers through innovative technologies, and the critical importance of meticulous bookkeeping. The sessions covered a wide range of topics including Business Management, Basic Bookkeeping and Taxation, New Technology and Social Media Marketing, the Advantages of Business Associations and Collaborations, and Managing Grants for Business Growth and Expansion.
